Denver, CO
The idea for this look came to me as I was struggling to fall asleep one night. I just saw her behind my eyelids. I’m not sure why I saw her, or where she came from, but I’m happy she did. I fell in love with the buildings, murals, and general funky vibe of Denver the second I moved here. It was so fun to mesh my ideas with the artwork of others that is displayed all around downtown.
My very first opportunity to shoot a concert was in Indianapolis at The Old National Centre for Andrew McMahon on his Into the Wilderness tour! What an exciting show! Andrew is so interactive with the audience and is all over the stage! The highlight of the concert is when he crowd surfs on a giant inflatable rubber duckie the crowd goes wild!
Another perk of shooting this show was that I actually got to go backstage and hang out with the opening act Atlas Genius. They are an amazing, fun band from Australia - definitely check them out if you've never heard of them!
Working with Madison was like a dream! She is so effortlessly gorgeous and a natural in front of the camera! I feel so blessed to have had the chance to shoot with Madison. Her career in the modeling industry is really blooming right now! You can follow her on instagram @madiisay!
The beauty of the Earth is bountiful and endless. Since moving to Colorado I have felt so blessed to be able to enjoy the mountains, and inspired by the scenery of the West. From sunsets to forests, from flowers to cacti, I love it all! I hope to travel the world and see even more of the wonder it has to offer in my lifetime.
Boudoir on another level.
The seasons of the year always inspire me! I had dreamt up this vision of a beautiful girl who lived in the Woods, and needed to bring her to life. I even came up with a story for her existence.
She was like a mythical creature that thrived on the night, and lived for peace amongst nature and humanity. She loved the Earth and all of its gifts. She felt so deeply drawn to these gifts that she sacrificed her own being to save them. Now the Autumn Goddess lives amongst the trees in the mountains, singing radiance towards the sun.
This is a collection of some of my make up art! I just love getting creative with people's faces! I am so grateful to have worked with the Brittany Renee Make Up Academy because it opened my eyes to a passion that I never knew I had. While I enjoy doing bridal and beauty looks, I have to say that avant garde make up is my true love. So these are all looks that I personally created and photographed!
This angel and myself got together and totally collabed on this shoot! It was our first time working together, so I wanted to see if there was anything she had been wanting for her portfolio. She came up with the vintage vibe for the outfit, and suggested glitter freckles - which turned into a starry eye look. I did her hair and make up, and we played around the Center for the Performing Arts building in downtown Denver on one chilly ass day! Totally worth it! This girl knows how to strike a pose and has the most beautiful cheekbones. You can follow her on insta @karinadion
I have always had a passion for animals, and would absolutely love to do pet glamour shots for others! Most of these images are of my three fur babies: Gypsy, Gizmo, and Gaia. I would love to create settings and themes (nothing too crazy that would make an animal uncomfortable), and take sweet photos of the most precious things we have in this world.
The Brittany Renee Make Up Academy is where I first dipped my toe in professional photography. This all began in 2014 right after I graduated college. I met Brittany and fell down a rabbit hole! As a professional make up artist who had traveled the country, she decided to come back home and start a make up academy - and needed a photographer. This is a collection of portfolios of the amazing girls I got to work with at the Brittany Renee Make Up Academy!
I love boudoir photography! I believe it is important for women to love the skin they're in, and to feel empowered to show it off! Boudoir photos, to me, are about confidence and positive self-image. Get it girl!
I fell in love with film way back in high school, where I took my first photography class! I had to use a super old film camera, but it was awesome! I got to play in the dark room, and mix my own chemicals, and watch my photos come to life! Then I got a lomography fisheye camera, and went wild! I loved it so much it was more of a fashion accessory for about a year of my life!
What can I say except that Brittany makes one of the most beautiful pregnant women I have ever seen! It was an honor to be a close friend during this time in Brittany's life, and it meant so much to me to be able to produce these photos for her. Embracing the beauty of pregnancy is so important, and I love to help women do so through elegant, graceful photos.
I got out of my comfort zone a little bit with this project by taking my camera out with me to a public event. I want to overcome feeling awkward about taking photos whenever and wherever I want! I love capturing people in their element. To me, getting a good candid photo of a person is priceless.
I was given a challenge by my loving boyfriend to take unique pictures in an area of town I had never been before, while he was in a meeting. This was the result! There was one point where I thought a cop that was driving along the rail road tracks was going to stop me, and I thought, “How confident am I in my parkour skills right now?”. Haha this was definitely a sketchy assignment, even in the middle of the day, but I’m glad I did it rather than sitting in the car waiting.
